Week 2 - August 26, 2016

Hola! It is my second P-day here at the CCM. This past week hasn't been as eventful as the first week and a half. Elder Porter and I have finally hit our stride and the days are getting easier. We joke that a day here feels like a week and a week feels like a day. I don't know why it feels like this but it does. We have finally gotten into a daily routine and so our stress has gone way down. Every day we get a little bit better at Spanish. We both can't wait to be in Louisiana serving and teaching the people there.

The best thing that happened to me this week is that I was able to give an Elder from my district, Elder Fly, a blessing. He started to get sick this week and asked if Elder Polad and I would bless him. It was really cool! We got all of the Elders together in his room at the end of the day to see the blessing. It is the second one that we have done as a district since we have been here.

Today for the second week in a row we got to go to the Mexico City Temple. It is such a pretty Temple. All the Elders in the district got to do an endowment session for family names my mom sent. It was awesome and they were all so excited to do it.

I don't have much else to say for this week. Thank you for all the help and support and emails that you send. It means a lot to me.

Have a good week everyone and I will write again next week!

Week 1 - August 19, 2016

Hola mi amigos y familia!!!
I have had a pretty good first week and a half here in Mexico City CCM (MTC). I have already learned so much! The first few days are pretty stressful because you start out learning Spanish from the moment you arrive. On our second full day we had to teach our first investigator. It was so stressful. My companion and I prayed so much and relied on the Lord to help us. It was stressful but wasn't as bad of a lesson as we though it would be.
My CCM Companion is awesome. His name is Elder Porter. He is from Utah and just recently graduated High School. We get along pretty well, probably the best in the district besides the Hermanas (sisters). We try our hardest to study and to learn as quickly as we need to. He is also going to the Louisiana Baton Rouge mission. There are 12 total missionaries in our district. 10 Elders and 2 Hermanas. Five of us are going to Baton Rouge. The two Hermanas, Hermana Jones and Hermana Vasquez, my companion, Elder Polad and me. The entire district has become best friends. We have been pretty much since day one.
The food here is strange but good. We eat quite a lot of rice and beans. I think everyones favorite food day is either pizza day, Tuesday, or burger day, which is random.
Today we got to go the the Mexico City Temple as a district. It was so fun!. The temple here is beautiful! Going through the temple in a different language is a very interesting experience. You don't really understand what is being said but you can still feel the spirit so strong!

Well I don't have much else to say about this past week and a half. I hope you are all doing well.

Hasta luego!
Elder Stoddard
